Du Vivant Sous Les Plis

I am a credentialed Ohashiatsu practitioner since 2014 and a teacher of Energy Yoga (Hatha Yoga).

My journey as a dancer and choreographer in the field of contemporary dance made me aware at quite a young age of alternative forms of healing (osteopathy, acupuncture, massage) as well as discovering the many Asian approaches to bodywork.

In 2009 a study grant allowed me to travel to Japan, a country which has fascinated me for years. While I was there I studied butoh, reflecting both nature and the energy resources of the body. This experience changed my perception of the body in movement, allowing me to learn about and study the concept of KI, a life force which each person carries inside him- or herself. Japan offered me true sensorial explorations.

At the same time I discovered other somatic practices (Feldenkrais, yoga, the Alexander technique, BMC [Body-Mind Centering]) and began focusing specifically on yoga. For several years I have practiced and studied Energy Yoga which influences my way of looking at movement and the body, and which fine-tunes my energy awareness.

I consider Ohashiatsu and yoga to be part of the performing arts which I associate with my own artistic practice, exploring the language of the body, deepening our awareness of the self and freeing the potential of the living.

Yoga

Energy Yoga is part of Hatha Yoga practice, smooth, slow, seeking balance. The focus is on the relationship to and the control of movement and breath, as well as on the interior eye; placing the practitioner’s attention on the body in space, in order to optimize the effect of each posture, each position. This kind of yoga is a calm, peaceful space for our physical and interior tensions. It aims to awaken and help circulate the energy in us, increasing our vitality and awareness of sensation and relaxation, helping us better manage everyday stress and emotion. It is personal time, channeling the present and slowing down to feel it, listening to the body.

'Taking care of the self is a way of discovering the self inside."

Classes in Energy Yoga take place in Le Havre at the Ateliers de Saint-Adresse.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is an Asian-infused relaxation technique characterized by using pressure through the fingers, elbows and knees on areas and energy points in the body, as well as through stretching of the body, facilitating the circulation of energy in the body.

Ohashiatsu associates with the more traditional aspects of shiatsu a more complete experience of self-development, adding certain psychological and spiritual elements to the work.

The session takes place on a futon mattress, in soft, comfortable clothes, in an hour of deep relaxation and well- being, allowing for a better approach to stress and emotion, eliminating tension and fatigue, soothing and healing pain and improving and enhancing one’s vitality.
It is a time for resting, for letting go, for healing the body and the mind, for well-being and relaxation as well as personal development for those interested in looking within.

Ohashiatsu sessions are offered in Le Havre, in the home and by appointment only.
